We did not convert Almajirai to Christianity – ECWA
The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) said the church did not convert the Almajiri children to Christianity.
ECWA said this when reacting to the story of how the Department of State Services (DSS) rescued 21 young people who allegedly converted to Christianity.
In a statement sent to the Daily Trust, Church President Reverend (Dr) Stephen Baba Panya said the claim was a deliberate attempt to discredit the Church.
The President said: “ECWA’s Church-Related Ministries Department has been shocked by the false allegations allegedly made by ‘escapee’ Abdulrahman Hussaini that the interns at the property are citizens who have been there. were forcibly brought in for the purpose of forcibly converting them. to Christianity.
“These allegations are completely untrue because the interns, being adults, are available at all times for government officials to interact with them, to hear each other’s stories, just as the Department of State Services recently did. (DSS).
“The interns of the establishment, as a matter of principle, are all adults, none being under the age of eighteen (18).
Trainees are free to withdraw from training once they are dissatisfied with the policies or the state of the facility,” the statement added.
The Daily Trust reported on Monday how Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Plateau recounted how the victims said they were forcibly brought home and converted to Christianity.
