Sheffield United win over Stoke City ‘massive’ for Blades’ belief, boss Slavisa Jokanovic says
United followed Jacob Brown’s strike in the second half, before substitutes Lys Mousset and David McGoldrick scored quick goals to see the Blades beat 2-1 for their first win in three games.
McGoldrick finished with a goal and an assist in his 13 minutes of regulation time after coming off the bench, and Jokanović admitted. “I’m delighted. We’re really happy with the way we played and won the game. How the subs also worked together from the bench.
“We played well for 85% of the game and had a few flat moments after their goal, we have to improve on this side of the game. We should not be depressed after this kind of situation.
“We played with enough brain, we moved the ball and tried to find the spaces. We tried to be patient and to combine, and we found a way to win the game at the end.
“It’s huge for us,” added Jokanović, whose side returns to Bramall Lane on Tuesday night to face Millwall.
“We didn’t deserve to lose in the last game against Bournemouth and with energy and confidence we moved the game in the right direction. We had a problem 10 minutes after they scored and we weren’t sure exactly what we were doing on the pitch.
“It’s a huge victory and a boost in our confidence and a reward for our work and our confidence in management.”
