COUNSELOR Paul Andrews (The Yorkshire Post, July 26) suggests that the Church needs a new public relations team to win back the faithful. Yet the best public relations team to win people over to the Faith is, as it always has, ordinary Christians living the story of Christ day by day among the people with whom they live, work, and recreate.
Churches certainly face many challenges. Yet what I find remarkable, as I speak with priests and people from across much of North Yorkshire, is the creativity, passion and commitment they embody.
This is clear in the way they have responded to the Covid pandemic by providing in-person and / or online services and pastoral care under very difficult circumstances and with a broader reach than in the past.

As far as your coverage of Church affairs goes, I live in a part of Leeds where the Catholic Church is still a hive of activity and the CoE Parish Church is not.
I think that the question of attendance and participation in community services and events is as much linked to the dynamism of the clergy as to the will of the local populations.
It is important that all places of worship are the focal points of their parishes and communities.
