Center targeting Christians to advance the majority agenda: Congress

“Mother Teresa and her missionaries of charity are the latest victims of the Modi government’s vicious, vengeful and hateful agenda against minorities,” Randeep Singh Surjewala, AICC general secretary and communications officer, said on Twitter.
Top Congress leader P Chidambaram said that by the end of 2021 it was clear that the Modi government “has found another target – Christians – to advance its majority agenda.”
Chidambaram called on the Union Home Office to “use its Sherlock Holmes skills to quell communal violence and terrorist activity, not to suppress Christian charity and humanitarian work.”
âNothing can be more shocking than denying future foreign contributions to Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, West Bengal. This is the greatest insult to the memory of Mother Teresa who dedicated her life to caring for the âpoor and wretchedâ of India, âhe said.
Surjewala accused the BJP of creating “false bogies of communitarianism”.
âFrom Haridwar to Calcutta – The BJP and its hate merchants are creating false bogies of communitarianism. It is an affront to constitutionalism in India, âhe accused.
The congressional statement came after the Home Office said it refused to renew the FCRA registration for Missionaries of Charity for failing to meet eligibility requirements because some unfavorable contributions were received.
