Auburn’s National Day of Prayer will focus on extending the hands of hope
REVIVE is thrilled to host this year’s National Day of Prayer in partnership with Mayor Nancy Backus and the City of Auburn. It is a special time designed to prioritize prayer to God and focus our attention on what matters most in our community.
The first Thursday in May, declared by Mayor Nancy Backus, is a day of prayer for the city of Auburn. Whether you can’t imagine your life without prayer or don’t know where to start, this is an event designed to include and involve all people, no matter where they are on their faith journey.
This year’s theme is HOPE – Hands Extended. To give hope, you must use your hands either in serving, giving or praying. With two services at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., faith leaders, city and state leaders, Auburn business owners, and nonprofit leaders will come together to pray for hope. With dozens of guests including Mars Flannery (REVIVE), Mayor Nancy Backus (City of Auburn), State Representative Jamila Taylor, Kacey Bray (Auburn Chamber of Commerce), Debbie Christian (Food Bank of Auburn), as well as local award-winning musical by Auburn artists Alliya (REVIVE MC) and Empress.
This event is more accessible than ever to all members of our community, as we have included multi-faith groups, business owners and community leaders. The National Day of Prayer has also partnered with the Auburn Food Bank to help raise funds to provide financial hope for their efforts in the Auburn community.
Whether you have a religious belief or not, the National Day of Prayer will certainly be a historic event that would not be the same without you. Hope does not stagnate, hope expands. For more information, visit therevivechurch.org/pray.
